Technical Lead at BizTalk360
Lex works as a Technical Lead at BizTalk360/Kovai Ltd. He works in the Information Technology for more than 25 years, and with BizTalk Server since 2004. His first BizTalk assignments were as a developer, but he also has many years of experience as a BizTalk administrator. In May 2012 Lex founded BizTalk Events, a website which shows a calendar with world wide BizTalk related events, trainings and webcasts. Further Lex is a board member of the Dutch BizTalk User Group, where he sometimes does presentations. He is also the initiator and co-founder of the Belgian BizTalk User Group. Lex has certifications for BizTalk Server 2006, BizTalk Server 2006 R2 and BizTalk Server 2010.

This talk is about the process of a migration project to a, IaaS hosted, BizTalk Server 2016 and all of the different drivers and decisions that were made. The talk also discusses some of the things the team chose to change and some of the things they chose not to change but maybe should have. In particular things like the new opportunities offered by Azure and why you may or may not take advantage of some of them. Mike also explains why he had BizTalk360 to be using the SQL Azure DB instead of hosting the database on the BizTalk instance.
During this session Lex will firstly show where the On-premise Data Gateway fits in the integration landscape and show some of the scenarios in which it can be used. After this, the attendees will install/configure the On-premise Data Gateway on their BizTalk Server 2016 VM and create a couple of simple Logic Apps to receive from and send to the on-premise BizTalk Server environment.
Note: to be able to participate in this workshop, you need a BizTalk Server 2016 VM and an Azure subscription.
